Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie ranks 10th in the annual Stonewall's 'Top 100 Employers' published today. The Firm was also one of only ten employers to feature in the 'Top Trans Employer' listing for a second consecutive year. The listings are part of Stonewall's Workplace Equality Index, an annual audit of workplace culture for LGBT staff, and this year, the Firm is recognised as a 'Star Performer' for its consistent high performance in this index.
Alex Chadwick, London Managing Partner, Baker McKenzie, says: "We're honoured to once again be included in Stonewall's index and to be ranked in the top ten. To be recognised for building a LGBT+ friendly workplace is a great reflection of the hard work and dedication of our people and culture. As a Firm, we recognise that we have a responsibility to create the best environment for all of our employees and make sure the Firm is a fair and inclusive place to work."
Commenting on the firm's recognition as a Top Trans Employer, Baker McKenzie's Carl Richards, Partner sponsor and lead for BakerLGBT+ in London, says: "I am delighted that today we are recognised by Stonewall as a top employer for being trans inclusive. It confirms the continued strides we are making in creating an inclusive environment for all, including for our trans employees. We strongly believe that sexual orientation, gender identity and expression should form no barrier in the workplace, and we want all employees to feel they are fully supported and can be who they are."
Baker McKenzie is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion for all its lawyers and staff. Staff involvement in diversity issues is encouraged through focus groups and activities such as our LGBT+ and Allies network which over one-third of employees in Baker McKenzie's London office are members. The firm also supports a number of intersecting LGBT community and charity groups, including Just Like Us, Opening Doors and The London Gay Men's Chorus.
