Baker McKenzie New York finance team transaction wins 2019 Bonds & Loans Latin America Deal of the Year award in the Niche Market category.
The Deals of the Year awards recognize outstanding transactions from across Latin American capital markets. Bonds & Loans awarded our work advising BOW Power on a US $175 million refinancing of its Cajamarca Transmission Line in Peru.
The transmission line, already in operation, runs 370 kilometers across Northern Peru, connecting Carhuaquero, Cajamarca, Cáclic and Moyobamba. The 29-year private placement and fixed-rate loan was arranged by banking group Natixis. The notes were rated BBB and the loan and the notes are pari passu. The notes were privately placed in an amount of USD 100 million to three US insurance companies. The remainder of the financing was sourced by Natixis through a fixed-floating rate loan.
Commenting on the deal, lead partner and North America Chair of Baker McKenzie's Latin Finance Practice, Margarita Oliva said, “We are honored to work with BOW Power and thrilled to be recognized by Bonds & Loans. This transaction highlights our cross-border transactional and finance capabilities in the Latin America region, and I am very proud of the work of our multi-jurisdictional team.”
