On October 9, Baker McKenzie jointly with Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) and the Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce held a seminar for European businesses in Brussels to discuss rules on foreign investments in the Russian economy, measures against cartels and other issues relating to antitrust regulation of global markets.
Speakers in the event included FAS Deputy Director Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of the FAS Legal Department Oksana Kuznetsova, Advisor to the Director of FAS Stanislav Druzhinin, General Director of the Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Arkady Arianov, as well as representatives of transnational corporations in various sectors including petroleum, pharmaceutical, and machine building.
"This event has become a platform for cooperation between the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the international business community," Anton Subbot, a partner in Baker McKenzie's Moscow office, commented following the discussion. "In our view, by moving into international channels, advocacy for competition has entered a new round of development. We are pleased to be part of this process.”
