- Former Sidley Austin London Managing Partner Matthew Dening returns to Baker McKenzie
- US Capital Markets lawyer Haden Henderson joins from Ropes & Gray as a Partner
Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has hired Matthew Dening, co-head of Sidley Austin's London global finance team and its former London Managing Partner, to join its London Structured Capital Markets practice. He re-joins the Firm having left as a partner in 2004. The Firm has also hired Haden Henderson, a US Capital Markets lawyer, as a partner in its growing Corporate Finance team in London. He joins Matthew Cox, Nick O'Grady and Bevis Metcalfe who joined Baker McKenzie from Ropes & Gray earlier this year.
Matthew will join the Firm later this year, while Haden joined on Monday 3 September. Both hires are part of the Firm's wider transactional strategy to grow its Corporate, Banking & Finance, Private Equity, Capital Markets and Tax teams.

Matthew first joined Baker McKenzie as a trainee in 1993, where he qualified and later spent two years in the Firm's Hong Kong office. He left as a Partner in 2004.
Matthew's practice is primarily focused on cross-border structured finance transactions involving derivatives, repos and securities lending, as well as the regulation of financial products under the European Market Infrastructure Regulation, MiFID II and the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation. He is widely recognised as a market-leading lawyer. Haden is a highly experienced US capital markets lawyer. His practice focuses on corporate finance transactions with a particular emphasis high yield debt offerings. Haden regularly acts for corporations, private equity funds, investment banks and underwriters on leveraged transactions involving high yield debt offerings and commitment financing processes. He also regularly works on the syndicated loan side of transactions, as well as out-of-court debt restructurings, including debt exchange and tender offers. Haden's practice also includes the representation of corporations in connection with complex cross-border corporate and securities law matters.
