Quisumbing Torres' (QT) Diversity & Inclusion Committee Head, Alain Charles Veloso, shared D&I Best Practices and Policies during the Pride Summit 2018, a full-day conference organized by the Philippine Financial Industry Pride (PFIP), supported by the Australian-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ANZCham). Over 300 senior executives, HR, pride and diversity leads from different industries, mainly from Financial Services and Business Process Outsourcing, were present.
The event facilitated exchanges of ideas to enhance workplace policies and practices that would ultimately promote a more inclusive culture in the workplace. Keynote speakers and breakout sessions featured topics such as Business of Inclusion, Corporate values and benefits for LGBT+ , Benchmarking and LGBT+ index, ally program and HIV/AIDS program in the workplace.
"The D&I movement is in response to the growing challenges in the workplace, characterized by generational turnover, cultural evolution, mobility, and advancing technology," Charles explained. " The increasing complexity in the workplace has broken down the old and is creating new barriers to recruiting, developing, and retaining talent and in dealing with our clients. Establishing and promoting your organization's D&I policies is not just the smart thing to do, it is the right thing to do," he continued. Charles is a partner in QT's Corporate & Commercial Practice Group. He heads the firm's Capital Markets group and leads the B-Green Committee.
