Mike Leggieri, Billie Wenter bring experience in class action, single-plaintiff matters
Michael "Mike" Leggieri and Billie Wenter have joined Baker McKenzie's North America Employment & Compensation Practice, bringing extensive experience litigating on behalf of management in all areas of employment law. Mike joins Baker McKenzie as a Partner and Billie joins the Firm as Counsel.
Based in San Francisco, Mike and Billie counsel clients with a focus on single-plaintiff litigation and collective action in California state court and US federal court, including breach of contract, wage and hour disputes, unfair business practices, whistle-blower retaliation and wrongful termination.
"Companies doing business in the US face increasingly complex employment laws. Take the recent California Supreme Court decision on independent contractors, for example," said George Avraam, Chair of the Firm's North America Employment & Compensation Practice. "Mike and Billie are litigators who clients trust with contentious disputes, and their experience will add significant depth to the services we offer clients, both in California and across North America."
Baker McKenzie's Global Employment & Compensation Practice is one of the world's largest and most recognized employment practices, with more than 700 attorneys globally and more than 130 attorneys in North America focused on employment law. A recent BTI Consulting survey of corporate counsel named Baker McKenzie a "standout" law firm for complex employment litigation. In addition, Chambers Global has recognized the Firm's employment practice with a Band 1 ranking for nine consecutive years.
"Employment disputes are a key area of focus for many of our clients, particularly in significant litigation hubs like California," said Colin Murray, the Firm's North American Chief Executive. "Mike and Billie each bring more than a decade of experience advising clients as they navigate labor laws in federal and state courts, and they will be tremendous assets to our clients. We are pleased to add them to our growing team of employment practitioners."
Baker McKenzie has added more than 40 partners in North America over the last two years, as it continues to expand its presence in key markets and practice areas. Mike and Billie joining the Firm follows the recent arrival of key employment litigators Robin Samuel (Los Angeles), Michael Brewer (San Francisco), Meredith Kaufman (New York), Todd Boyer (Palo Alto) and Bill Dugan (Chicago).
"Baker McKenzie's global platform and strong reputation as a leader in the employment space makes it an excellent fit to grow my practice," Mike said. "I am excited to join the Firm's talented team in California."
Added Billie, "I am thrilled to join Baker McKenzie's highly regarded employment practice, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to enhance the services we offer to clients in the litigation process."
