Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie advised UBS and the other syndicate banks on the refinancing of Implenia, Switzerland’s leading construction and construction services group headquartered in Dietlikon, Zurich. The financing consists of CHF 800 million credit facilities and was placed with a bank syndicate comprising 18 banks. Implenia has become one of the first companies in Switzerland to partially link the applicable credit spread to its sustainability performance measured by Sustainalytics, a global leader in environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) research and ratings. This makes Implenia a pioneer of "green" loan financing in Switzerland. The term of the new credit facilities ends in December 2023 and can be extended by a maximum of two years.

Implenia is Switzerland’s leading construction and construction services company with a strong market position in the German, Austrian and Scandinavian infrastructure markets. Implenia employs around 10,000 people in Europe and posted revenue of around CHF 3.9 billion in 2017. The company is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange (Ticker: IMPN | ISIN: CH0023868554).

Baker McKenzie advised UBS as arranger and agent as well as the other syndicate banks in connection with the structuring and documentation of the new credit facilities. The Baker McKenzie team included Prof. Dr. Lukas Glanzmann (Partner, Banking & Finance), Dr. Philip Spoerlé (Associate, Banking & Finance) and Sammy Guidoum (Trainee Lawyer, Banking & Finance).
