On International Women’s Day, Baker McKenzie is pleased to announce its support for the Gender Equality Leadership Project, led by the Global Compact Network Canada (GCNC).
The three-year initiative in Canada will focus on bringing together corporate partners, including Baker McKenzie, to develop, test and implement a set of tools leading to a "blueprint" for gender equality in the private sector, as well as a certification methodology. The project will ultimately allow consumers to be able to identify companies that are supportive of gender equality. The Government of Canada has announced it will dedicate funding toward the project.
"International Women's Day is an important opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women in Canada and around the world," said Kevin Coon, Baker McKenzie's Toronto Office Managing Partner. "We are proud to be a partner in this essential project that will engage the private sector to eliminate barriers facing women in the workplace."
Baker McKenzie has a history of working closely with the UN Global Compact and the GCNC. Last year, the Firm was honoured for its progressive practices in gender quality by the GCNC when it received its "Principle 1" award for establishing high-level corporate leadership for gender equality.
