Baker McKenzie wins multiple accolades at Project Finance International Awards
Lawyers at leading Global Law Firm Baker McKenzie advised on several award-winning deals, recognised at the Project Finance International (PFI) Awards dinner, which took place last night at the Hilton, Park Lane, London.
Latin America Deal of the Year: Stoneway.
Baker McKenzie advised Siemens Financial Services on a USD 115 million loan to Stoneway Group LP in connection with the issue by Stoneway Capital Corporation of a USD 500 million bond for the development and construction of four power generation facilities to be located in Buenos Aires province. This was the first international project finance bond transaction for a project based in Argentina in over 25 years. Stoneway Group LP is owned by the Nores family and SoEnergy.
Baker McKenzie's Clyde (Skip) E. Rankin, III, who acted as lead partner on the deal said "We were thrilled to advise Siemens on this milestone loan and transaction. Global Multilateral Deal of the Year: Egypt Solar: Baker McKenzie advised the various development consortia opposite International Finance Corporation on four of IFC's thirteen solar PV projects under Round 2 of the Egyptian Government's feed-in tariff programme . The IFC-led initiative is financing an aggregate solar capacity of 752 MW with financing packages worth $ 653 m in the largest renewables financing to date for both Egypt and IFC. These instructions follow on from Bakers' involvement in Round 1 of the FiT Programme the previous year.
Middle East and Africa Renewables Deal of the Year: DEWA Solar: Baker McKenzie acted for a consortium comprising Gransolar, Acciona and Ghella in connection with the development of an 800 MW solar plant in Dubai, which is set to be the world's largest photovoltaic energy generation facility on a single site.
