With the theme Challenges and Opportunities in Philippine Infrastructure, the meeting was opened by Tom Grealy, President of ANZCHAM, while Maria Catalina Cabral, Undersecretary of Planning and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Department of Public Works and Highways delivered the opening keynote remarks, discussing the current administration's Build Build Build Philippine Infrastructure Transparency Portal.
The portal lists down high impact projects that are envisioned to increase the productive capacity of the economy, create jobs, increase incomes, and strengthen the investment climate leading to sustained inclusive growth. It is a real-time tool where projects are monitored and tracked-with relevant information made available to everyone.
Dennis Quintero, Partner of QT's Corporate & Commercial Practice Group and Head of the Energy, Mining & Infrastructure Industry Group moderated the Energy session panel discussion. The session highlighted the Philippine Convention Contracting Program and Gutteridge Haskins & Davey's (GHD) power demand presentation.
"The energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors in the Philippines are of great interest to Australian investors as Australian companies have continued to take leading roles in these sectors in terms of investments and providing support to these industries," explained Dennis.
Attended by the country's key industry players, the forum boasted three key topics, Water and Wastewater; Transport; and Energy.
The session on Water and Wastewater featured topics such as Climate Change and Sea level Rise: Challenges for Manila's Infrastructure, Water Resources Management in the Philippines and Manila Water's Water & Sanitation and other sector challenges presentation.
Meanwhile, the Transport session tackled the Roads of National Significance Programme and Department of Transportation's (DOTr) Philippine infrastructure updates. Don Palomar, Water Lead of Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) Philippines and Carl Willis, Country Manager of GHD moderated the sessions respectively.
