Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has advised Schweizerische Depeschenagentur AG (SDA), Switzerland’s national news agency on its announced merger with Switzerland’s leading picture agency Keystone, to become the integrated KEYSTONE-SDA Group. The Austria Press Agency (APA) will provide its technological expertise in the development and operation of IT services for KEYSTONE-SDA and its customers as part of a long-term cooperation in the IT business.
APA and SDA have been equal shareholders in Keystone for approximately ten years. Through the merger, APA will become a major shareholder of the new KEYSTONE-SDA Group.
“Our motivation in merging SDA and Keystone is to provide our customers with high quality, multimedia information products in text, pictorial, infographic and video format. This reflects, on the one hand, our customers’ changing needs while at the same time providing us with a platform on which to further the company's strategic development,” is how Dr. Hans Heinrich Coninx, President of the Board of Directors of SDA, explains the rationale for the merger.
The Baker McKenzie team advising SDA was led by Marcel Giger, and assisted by Philippine Bossy and Matthias Trautmann (both M&A), Alessandro Celli (IT) and Philippe Reich (Competition).
