Following the win of Berthold Hummel for the private equity team in October, Baker McKenzie now strengthens its team in Munich with another long-standing Dechert partner: Dr. Katja Heuterkes, who joined Baker McKenzie in November.
Dr. Andreas Lohner, Co-Head of Baker McKenzie's German Corporate / M&A Practice Group said:
"With Katja Heuterkes, a well known and, for us, a familiar colleague, returns to the team. Together with Berthold Hummel, she will further strengthen our expertise in private equity on the ground.
"We very much look forward to working together with her and further expansion of our team."
Dr. Katja Heuterkes focuses on national and cross-border M&A, private equity and capital market transactions. She advises German and international industrial companies, funds, family offices and investment companies on M&A transactions, joint ventures, IPOs and restructurings. After 12 years at Dechert she returns to Baker McKenzie.
Together with Berthold Hummel, she advised the sellers on all legal and tax aspects in a cross-border acquisition of Rigontec, a leader in RIG-I targeting RNA therapeutics, by Merck.
Commenting on her move, Dr. Katja Heuterkes said:
"I return to Baker McKenzie as part of a well-rehearsed team joining a leading global law firm with great ambitions for the growth of their transactional practice in Germany.
"With this move, we expect to be able to serve our private equity clients as well as our corporate clients holistically across borders. To be part of the expansion of Baker McKenzie's private equity expertise and team is an exciting opportunity for me,” she said.
Most recently Berthold Hummel joined Baker McKenzie in the Munich office on October 1st, 2017. Prior to that the most recent Corporate wins were Dr. Tim Heitling and Dr. Thomas Dörmer in Berlin with their particular focus on the energy sector.
