Robert Albaral has been named Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie's Dallas office, following a 30-year career with the Firm.

Robert succeeds Michael Santa Maria, who was recently appointed Chair of the Firm’s North America International Commercial Practice Group.

Robert, a partner in the Tax practice, joined Baker McKenzie as an associate in 1987 and was appointed partner in 1992. During his career at the Firm, he has held a number of significant management positions, including serving as Managing Partner of the Dallas and Houston offices of the Firm. He currently chairs the North America Tax Controversy Sub-Practice Group and serves on the Firm’s Global Tax Disputes Resolution Steering Committee and Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

“Bobby joined the Firm as an associate shortly after we opened the office in Dallas. During his tenure, the Dallas office has grown and established itself as one of the top practices in North Texas, advising clients on tax, intellectual property, corporate and international commercial matters,” said Colin Murray, Baker McKenzie’s North America Managing Partner. “Bobby is well respected by his colleagues and clients. He will bring an excellent perspective and enthusiasm to the role.”

Baker McKenzie has a long history of working with companies in Texas, having opened the Dallas office in 1986. The office now has approximately 65 lawyers with practices in tax, intellectual property, M&A, dispute resolution, international commercial and franchising.

The Dallas office launched the Doing Business Globally program, which annually unites hundreds of senior business executives, in-house counsel and Baker McKenzie practitioners from around the world to discuss the complexities of operating on a global platform. The 2017 program on Nov. 9 will highlight key issues for multinationals surrounding digital transformation.

“I am honored to serve as the Dallas Office Managing Partner,” said Robert. “We have a terrific office with an extremely talented, committed team and I am looking forward to continuing to provide our clients with top quality service.”

Robert earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas and his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University.
