Baker McKenzie has advised SNCF group in the framework of the investment by the AccorHotels group in its subsidiary Orient Express. The AccorHotels investment will take the form of a 50% stake in the share capital of Orient Express with SNCF conserving the remaining 50%.
As part of this partnership, which will combine the expertise and prestige of both groups, AccorHotels intends to develop a new collection of prestigious hotels under the Orient Express banner. The joint company Orient Express will also develop and continue to run the historical train in the context of private events and journeys, and to market luxury by-products under the Orient Express brand.
This strategic partnership involving a historical brand that is recognised throughout the world is further proof of the position AccorHotels holds in the luxury hotel segement. The SNCF group, which has worked actively to develop the prestigious image of the Orient Express brand since 1977, will continue its involvement with this ambitious project thanks to this partnership.
