Baker McKenzie grows in Brisbane with the hire of a senior restructuring and insolvency lawyer
Baker McKenzie has appointed John Lobban to an Of Counsel role in its Brisbane office. John was previously a partner at Ashurst and former Queensland managing partner, along with serving as a national board member on the firm's executive.

John's practice is focused on distressed investing and debt trading; litigation and dispute resolution; and restructuring and insolvency. John advises a diverse range of clients, seeking to find a commercial resolution to disputes.
In being appointed to the role at Baker McKenzie in Brisbane, John stated:

John is currently Special Patron and Foundation Committee Member for the Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art, and Former Chair of Audit and Risk for the Gallery. He is a Past Chair of the Queensland Law Society Insolvency Committee, and is an annual contributor to the World Bank Publications on Credit and Business in Australia.
