Leading corporate lawyer Ai Ai Wong has been awarded 'The Prestige Award 2017' by Prestige Singapore magazine. Mrs. Wong, a Principal with Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow, has led on many landmark transactions in Asia Pacific, and is currently a member of Baker McKenzie's Global Executive Committee, and Deputy Chair, Asia Pacific.
Mrs. Wong also serves as Chair of the Yellow Ribbon Fund Committee, a community organization that supports ex-offenders in their reintegration back into society.
The award by Prestige Singapore magazine recognises an individual of considerable standing and character who is highly respected in his/her circle of influence and demonstrates selflessness to those around them. In awarding Mrs. Wong this accolade, Prestige noted that she is not only outstanding in her own field and respected by her peers, but stands out for her “giving spirit and community work”. Speaking with sources who have worked closely with Mrs. Wong in leading the work of the Yellow Ribbon Fund, the magazine highlighted that Mrs. Wong is “extremely hands on with an innovative approach to cases, and that she befriends and mentors the prisoners and their families and children”.
Mrs. Wong said: "I am deeply honored to have been recognized by Prestige magazine for this award. Mrs. Wong added: "Alongside my corporate practice, it is extremely rewarding for me to have the opportunity to lead the Yellow Ribbon Fund, and spearhead the charity's meaningful efforts in promoting its second chances cause for ex-offenders and their family members."
Mrs. Wong has a long-standing career with Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow, the member firm of Baker McKenzie in Singapore. Having joined in 1996, she has served in several leadership positions in the Firm, including leading the Corporate & Securities practice in Singapore and chairing the Asia Pacific Private Equity Group.
Last year marked a highlight in her successful tenure with the Firm when she was appointed to Baker McKenzie's Global Executive Committee in October 2016 for a four-year term. The Global Executive Committee is Baker McKenzie's most senior leadership team, with responsibility for developing and implementing global business strategy and managing the Firm's day-to-day business across 77 offices in 47 countries.
Mrs. Wong has led the Yellow Ribbon Fund Committee since 1 January 2015, and is also a Board member of STPI Creative Workshop and Gallery, which is a global leader in the print and paper contemporary arts space.
