Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie took home two awards at the African Legal Awards in Johannesburg on 8 September, including International Law Firm of the Year.
The African Legal Awards, hosted by Legal Week (organisers of The British Legal Awards) and the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa (CCASA), set out to recognise exceptional achievement from within Africa’s legal community at a time when the legal sector is going through a period of rapid change.
Baker McKenzie was named:
- International Law Firm of the Year (the second time in three years we have won this flagship award)
- Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Team of the Year for our role (This is for our role advising BHP Billiton on a first-of-its-kind Forests Bond to support the Kasigau Corridor REDD Project in Kenya
- CSR, Diversity, Transformation and Economic Empowerment Firm of the Year
- Highly commended in the Innovation Award for our pioneering Antitrust Dawn Raid app
