Given recent political developments in the EU and deeper integration of the Eurozone, Michael's regulatory and supervisory law focus is a timely addition to the Team and will assist clients with dedicated insight for those already engaging with the Eurozone authorities or looking to relocate to the Eurozone. Given the ECB's location in Frankfurt we're delighted to welcome Michael to our Team and look forward to working together in growing the practice."

Michael Huertas has previously advised a breadth of financial institutions, alternative investment funds, FinTech providers and  non-financial corporates on the structure and operation of various ECB asset purchase programmes, the compliance and risk requirements in relation to Capital Markets Union and Banking Union specific issues, especially in light of BREXIT, as well as providing transactional advice across a breadth of derivatives and structured finance transactions.

"Baker McKenzie's dynamic plans coupled with an unrivalled global network and depth of presence in the Eurozone provides an exciting environment and the right platform on which to better support banks and financial institutions, alternative investment funds, FinTechs and non-financial corporates at this time of immense change in the EU-27. I very much look forward to helping clients respond to these challenges and adding my part in further developing the Banking & Finance practice at Baker McKenzie." said Michael Huertas.

The growth in Frankfurt builds upon the latest hire of Filip Kurkowski who joined Baker McKenzie as a Partner in 2016. Filip's focus on international property and asset financing transactions reinforces the Firm's international Real Estate capabilities and broadening its scope in Germany.
