Baker McKenzie announced the further enhancement of its capabilities in Italy by growing its Intellectual Property department with the hire of a team of three highly regarded specialists in the field of brand management, anti-counterfeiting and IP advisory work.

The team is composed of Carlo Alberto Demichelis, Silvia Asioli and Carolina Cordero di Vonzo.

Carlo Alberto Demichelis, Of Counsel, Head of IP Advisory Italy

Carlo Alberto is Vice-President and member of the Executive Board of Indicam (Istituto di Centromarca per la lotta alla contraffazione – which represents nearly 180 companies, industry associations, law and IP firms, security consultants and other organizations daily engaged in the fight against counterfeiting activities affecting branded products) and of the working groups IP Rights in a Digital World and Statistics and Economics of the Observatory of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). He has more than 20 years’ experience in the IP field, gained at Jacobacci & Partners, where he was senior partner and head of the Trademark Business Unit in Italy and France.

His practice areas are focused on providing strategic advice in the IP sector and the management of trademark portfolios and anti-counterfeiting, both in the Italian and global market. For the last two decades, Carlo has been the go-to person in these fields for leading Italian and foreign companies operating in different sectors: from the fashion, design and automotive industries to food and eyewear.

Silvia Asioli, Senior Manager, IP Advisory Italy

Silvia has gained significant experience in the area of providing strategic legal advice, assisting Italian and foreign companies in several sectors, such as textile, clothing, luxury goods, and food and beverages, on IP protection. She focuses, in particular, on trademark filing strategies, opposition procedures in Italy and the European Union, foreign litigation, drafting agreements, and anti-counterfeiting activities. Silvia started her professional IP work in 2003 at Jacobacci Legal Firm; later she worked in the IP team at BonelliErede, dealing with judicial and extra-judicial activities. In 2008, she joined Jacobacci & Partners, where she worked as a qualified representative in the trademarks area in the role of partner until January 2017.

Carolina Cordero di Vonzo, Senior Manager, IP Advisory Italy

Carolina specializes in Intellectual Property law. In the last few years, she worked in-house as head of the IP Department (APAC, EMEA and LATAM) at TTI Group’s Hong Kong headquarters. Previously, she was an associate in the IP group at Hogan Lovells LLP. Her main practice areas include managing trademarks and patent portfolios at a global level, developing anti-counterfeiting strategies with particular reference to the Asian and European markets (both online and offline), and structuring IP processes within companies. Carolina will be based in the Firm's Rome office.
