Baker McKenzie's Australian restructuring & insolvency team is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Innes as special counsel in the Brisbane office.
Ian is an experienced litigator and dispute resolution lawyer, with an insolvency and restructuring specialisation, having acted for a broad range of organisations in both the private and public sectors within Australia and internationally. Ian offers clients extensive experience gained across a range of industries in an insolvency context for financial institutions, insolvency practitioners and creditors.
The team is also pleased to welcome Heather Collins as senior associate in the Sydney office. Heather's practice focuses on contentious and non-contentious financial restructuring and insolvency with particular experience in the construction, real estate and retail sectors.
And finally, we welcome the return of Bruce Hambrett to the team. For more than 30 years, Bruce has been a key adviser to insolvency practitioners and financial institutions on insolvency-related issues, and a trusted adviser to boards and senior executives on disputes of strategic importance. Bruce returns to the Sydney office from Singapore following completion of a stint on the Firm's Global Executive Committee and as Chair, Asia Pacific.
Developments in New York
Globally, Baker McKenzie has bolstered its US restructuring & insolvency practice by adding Debra Dandeneau and Peter Goodman, two prominent New York bankruptcy lawyers. The pair brings decades of experience in insolvency and restructuring matters, further strengthening the Firm's capabilities in New York and North America.
Debra, a seasoned bankruptcy attorney with 30 years of experience, joined the Firm from Weil Gotshal & Manges, is the co-head of the Firm's Global Restructuring and Insolvency Group, and Chair of the North American Restructuring and Insolvency Group. She has been repeatedly recognized by Legal 500, Best Lawyers and other publications as one of the top bankruptcy and reorganization lawyers in the US. Debra worked on some of the largest global bankruptcies of the last two decades.
Peter is also a highly experienced bankruptcy practitioner who advises domestic and international businesses, directors and officers, as well as debtors, trustees, creditors and creditors' committees, bank groups, bondholders and significant shareholders in complex reorganization proceedings and out-of-court restructurings. Peter has handled matters in a variety of industries, including the oil and gas sector, which continues to progress through a period of significant restructuring. Best Lawyers and other publications have recognized him as a leading lawyer for bankruptcy and reorganization law.
