Montserrat Llopart is the New Managing Partner of the Barcelona Office

Baker McKenzie, a worldwide law firm, has elected Montserrat Llopart as its new Managing Partner for the Barcelona office, effective as of January 1, 2017.
From her new position, Montserrat Llopart will be in charge of accelerating Baker McKenzie's growth nationally, in coordination with José María Alonso, Managing Partner of the Madrid office, and making the firm one of the most innovative in the sector, able to offer the best talent for each area of specialization anywhere in the world.

Innovation and focus on the challenges in each sector will allow Baker McKenzie to consolidate its position as the largest international law firm in Spain," says Montserrat Llopart, who replaces Jorge Adell in the position; he will continue to head the Mergers & Acquisitions Department.

In the Barcelona office, the priority will be to develop and promote products and services adapted to the specific needs of each sector of activity. In fact, Montserrat Llopart is an expert in the successful development of services to cover sectorial needs: she has been advising pharmaceutical and healthcare companies regarding legislative changes, self-regulation, contracting, licensing, competition law, and mergers and acquisitions for 25 years. Also, she is acknowledged by the main ranking lists as one of the major experts in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector in Spain.
Montserrat Llopart will continue to be involved in the sector, as she will take on her new responsibilities while remaining the head of the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Law Department of Baker McKenzie's Barcelona office and continuing her participation in the firm's Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Steering Committee in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), which she has directed for three years.
With the appointment of Montserrat Llopart, Baker McKenzie is also taking another step forward in promoting women lawyers of acknowledged prestige for the main decision-making positions in the firm, both nationally and internationally.
After her appointment as Managing Partner, Montserrat Llopart acknowledged and thanked Jorge Adell for his work as Managing Partner of the Barcelona office since 2013, contributing definitively to the growth of the office and the improvement in its profitability, making Baker McKenzie the largest international firm in Catalonia.
