Baker McKenzie has strengthened its real estate practice by hiring lawyer Gaia Serena as an associate.
Gaia Serena's practice is focused on the real estate sector, with a particularly emphasis on transactions with investment funds and institutional and private operators, on structuring the purchase, management and sale of real estate assets. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, she worked at Chiomenti Studio Legale.
The Real Estate department of Baker McKenzie Italy counts 10 professionals, among which partners Pierfrancesco Federici, practice coordinator, Alessandro Matteini and counsel Rita Marchetti.
The Real Estate team's most recent operations include assisting: (i) Savills Investment Management SGR in the establishment of the Mercury Fund - a new multi-compartment real estate fund with a real estate portfolio worth over EUR 300 million undersigned by Cattolica Assicurazioni Group (a leading Italian insurance company) and Conad Group (the largest consortium of independent retailers in Italy); (ii) Invesco Group in the acquisition (together with Thor Equities) of 100% of the assets of the real estate company owner of a building located in Milan historical centre for approximately EUR 130 million; (iii) Rosewood in the negotiations concerning the management of an ultra-luxury hotel in the former state-money printing office (Poligrafico di Stato) in Rome; and (iv) Cerberus and BNP Paribas SGR in the acquisition of a real estate portfolio composed of 141 properties owned by Allianz S.p.A.
