Baker & McKenzie advised American Hotel Register Company, Leahy family owned for over 100 years and the US leader in hospitality supply, in its agreement to acquire Woleco Distribution from Hunter Amenities International, one of the world's leading formulators and manufacturers of personal care products.

Headquartered in Singapore, with sales and distribution offices in China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan, Woleco is a leading supplier of amenities in the Asia-Pacific market. Its distribution division will become a wholly owned subsidiary of American Hotel, and its established distribution network will provide American Hotel's key customers with streamlined supply chain management and consistent, high quality customer care throughout the Asia region. The acquisition does not include Woleco’s manufacturing division, which will continue to be operated by Hunter Amenities.

With its previous acquisition of Amsterdam-based Intros Hotel Supplies, American Hotel already serves customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa – which include offices in Dubai (UAE) and Johannesburg, South Africa.

"The combination of American Hotel, Intros, and Woleco provides us with a truly global distribution platform for our customer and manufacturing partners around the world," said Angela Korompilas, President & CEO of American Hotel.  "We have long been committed to being our customers’ most valued partner everywhere in the world, and we are excited to bring our global program management, technology solutions, and supply chain efficiencies to the fast growing Asian market."

The Baker & McKenzie team advising American Hotel was led by Partner Dieter Schmitz. Members of the US team included Colin McGee, Harry Marples, Katie Fung, Brian Burke, and Lisa Gates, who were joined by colleagues in Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

"We are honored to represent American Hotel as it has expanded into key global markets, first with the EMEA acquisition of Intros, and now with its transformational APAC acquisition of Woleco," said Mr. Schmitz. "The company is a market leader in providing incomparable service to hoteliers around the world, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with American Hotel's talented team as it unlocks the value of this transaction."

The American Hotel project  team consisted of CFO Lee Boyce, Director of Global Strategy and Business Integration Sarah Dienhart, General Counsel Bob Baker, and Corporate Counsel D.J. Nichols.

Said Mr. Baker, "This cross-border transaction required close coordination across multiple jurisdictions around the world, and I am very pleased with the seamless support provided by Dieter Schmitz and his team at Baker & McKenzie on this milestone acquisition."
