Patrick Cox has joined Baker McKenzie's Tax Practice as a Partner, bringing nearly 20 years of experience advising US and non-US multinational clients on a wide range of domestic and international tax planning issues.
Based in New York, Mr. Cox regularly advises on the tax aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and debt offerings and exchanges. He also has extensive experience in advising debtors, creditors (including creditors committees), and equity holders (including buyers and sellers) on the tax aspects of bankruptcy and restructuring. In addition, Patrick has advised clients on REMIC, REIT and partnership tax issues.

Mr. Cox is the latest in a recent series of prominent lateral hires to join the North American Tax Practice, including Dan Cullen in Chicago and Steven Schneider in Washington, DC, both of whom focus their practice in the areas of real estate and partnership taxation. In addition, state and local tax practitioners Maria Eberle and Lindsay LaCava recently joined in New York, and former US Treasury Advisor Alexandra Minkovich joined in Washington, DC.
Mr. Cox joins a growing New York office, which has added 13 lateral partners in the last two years. Mr. Cox joins the Firm from Withers Bergman. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, and his LL.M. in Tax from New York University School of Law.
