Baker & McKenzie Partner Donna Walwyn recently received a 2016 Lexpert Zenith Award, which recognizes "those who demonstrate excellence, action and thought leadership that advance diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and society."
According to Jean Cumming, Editor-in-Chief and Market Director at Lexpert, the Zenith Award winners represent "individuals who have broken barriers themselves, and then moved on to challenge the status quo for others similarly discriminated against; law firms that have concretized their ambitions with measurable benchmarks; and corporate legal departments boldly leading the charge."
This year, Ms. Walwyn, who heads the Firm's Toronto Pension and Employee Benefits Practice Group, was appointed to the Action Committee on Access to Justice in Civil and Family Matters, which was convened by the Chief Justice of Canada Beverley McLachlin. The committee is focused on improving access to the civil and family justice system.
Ms. Walwyn serves as President of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, and earlier in her career, was selected as the first Canadian participant in the Fellows Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
