We recently won a number of industry awards, among them, the ‘Employer of Choice’ in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand, awarded by Asian Legal Business (ALB); Thailand Law Firm of the Year at the 2016 Chambers Asia Pacific Awards; and the Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year and M&A Deal of the Year (Midsize) at the 2016 ALB Malaysia Law Awards.

The ALB Employer of Choice rankings were based on an online survey of more than 3,500 private practice lawyers across Asia. Respondents were asked to provide feedback on job satisfaction, remuneration, work-life balance, career prospects, mentorship and job security.

In Indonesia, Baker & McKenzie's member firm, Hadiputranto Hadinoto & Partners, was noted by one respondent as providing "the opportunity to engage with many clients from different backgrounds." In the Philippines, Baker & McKenzie's member firm, Quisumbing Torres, was lauded for providing a "work environment (that) is very conducive to professional development" and also for being "the highest-paying firm in the legal market." This is the fourth consecutive year that the Firm received such an accolade.

In addition, Baker & McKenzie clinched “Law Firm of the Year” for Thailand at the 2016 Chambers Asia Pacific Awards recently held in Singapore. The Chambers Asia Pacific Awards honor outstanding law firms across the Asia Pacific region, reflecting their preeminence and notable achievements over the past 12 months, including outstanding work, strategic growth and excellence in client service.

Wong & Partners, member firm of Baker & McKenzie in Malaysia, walked away with “Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year” and M&A Deal of the Year (Midsize) at the 2016 ALB Malaysia Law Awards. This is the second time that the Firm's IP practice has been recognized since the inception of the awards in 2014. The deal award was given in recognition for the Firm's involvement as lead transaction counsel in Metrod Holdings Bhd's acquisition of The Leela Goa. Baker & McKenzie.Wong & Leow also provided Singapore law advice relevant to the transaction.

The ALB Malaysia Law Awards recognizes the excellence and outstanding achievements of Malaysia's leading law firms and in-house legal teams, as well as the top deals and dealmakers of 2015. The winners were selected by a panel of judges composed of reputable members from the legal academe, in-house teams, law firms, as well as legal and business associations.
