Washington, DC, USA, 3 March 2016 – Steven Schneider has joined Baker & McKenzie's North American Tax Practice as a partner in Washington, DC, bringing more than 20 years of experience in transactional and tax controversy matters, with a particular focus on partnerships, REITs, S corporations, real estate, private equity and inbound foreign investment.

Mr. Schneider frequently counsels clients on federal income tax issues relating to international and domestic real estate acquisitions and dispositions, and advises on partnership structuring and audits. He began his career working in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, followed by many years advising clients on tax matters in private practice.

Mr. Schneider handles tax issues related to real estate investment funds, service partnerships, technology, energy and the financial sector. Since 2005, he has been an adjunct professor, teaching a tax course on drafting partnerships and LLC agreements at Georgetown University Law Center. He is also a former chair of the American Bar Association's Tax Section Partnerships and LLCs Committee.

Mr. Schneider received his B.S. from the University of Missouri-Columbia, his J.D. from Washington University School of Law, and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.

He joins the Firm from Goulston & Storrs PC.
