Data Privacy Lawyer Dean Dolan Joins Baker & McKenzie
Dean Dolan has joined Baker & McKenzie in Toronto as Counsel in the Firm's International Commercial Practice, bringing more than 15 years of experience as a senior in-house lawyer focused on data privacy law matters.
Most recently, Mr. Dolan served as Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Privacy Officer for Walmart Canada Corporation, responsible for data privacy, litigation and employment law matters. Mr. Dolan began his career as an associate at Baker & McKenzie.
"Dean is a well-known and highly regarded data privacy practitioner in the Canadian in-house legal community," said Kevin Coon, Managing Partner of the Firm's Toronto office. "He is well-versed in the challenges facing many multinationals related to information governance, and his in-house experience will allow him to provide unique insights for our clients."
Mr. Dolan will work closely with the Firm's Global Information Technology & Communications group, providing counsel to clients as they navigate compliance and regulatory risks around the world related to information security.

Mr. Dolan joining the Firm in Toronto follows the arrival of Peter MacKay, former Canadian Attorney General and Minister of Justice, who joined the Firm in Toronto in February as a Partner in the North American Litigation and Government Enforcement Practice. In recent years, the Firm has also augmented its transactional, tax and IP capabilities in Canada, among other areas.

Mr. Dolan received his LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario, and his Honours B.A. from Dalhousie University.
