Kevin Whittaker has joined Baker & McKenzie's North American Compensation and Employment Law Practice as Counsel in Palo Alto.

Mr. Whittaker brings more than a decade of experience counseling clients on labor and employment matters, as well extensively defending employers through trial. He has significant experience representing clients in federal and state court, as well as administrative proceedings, and has worked with businesses across a range of industries, including technology, retail, transportation, financial services, and entertainment.

"Employment litigation and counseling continues to be an important area of concern for companies doing business in the US," said David Ellis, Chair of Baker & McKenzie's North American Compensation and Employment Law Practice. “Kevin's extensive trial experience, and his work counseling clients on labor and employment matters both in California and throughout the US, will be a critical asset to many of our clients."

Mr. Whittaker joins one of the world's largest and most recognized employment practices, with more than 500 lawyers globally and more than 40 attorneys in North America focused on employment litigation. A recent BTI Consulting survey of corporate counsel named Baker & McKenzie a “standout” law firm for complex employment litigation. In addition, Chambers Global has recognized the Firm's employment practice with a Band 1 ranking for five consecutive years.

Mr. Whittaker is the latest in a series of prominent lateral hires to join the Firm's Compensation and Employment Law practice in North America. In recent months, employment litigator Arthur Rooney joined, along with experienced employment attorney Celina Joachim. In addition, seasoned equity attorneys Tery Williams, Sinead Kelly and Aldona Gorman also recently joined the practice.

Mr. Whittaker received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa and his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law.

He joins the Firm from Reed Smith LLP.
