On 4 December 2019, Provision No. 329/2019 (Provision) issued by the Hydrocarbons and Fuels Secretariat (Secretariat) of the Federal Ministry of Economy simplified customs procedures for the exportation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

From now on, all exports operations must be registered and authorized by the Secretariat. Such authorization -which must be filed with Customs when clearing LNG- will be granted as long as the intended export does not jeopardise local supply.

In practice, this puts LNG under the same export procedure that was already in force for other hydrocarbons such as gasoline, petroleum oils, butane, etc. (Resolution No. 241/2019).

The Provision applies only for the exportation of LNG, whereas the exportation of natural gas is regulated by a much more complex export procedure stated in Resolution N° 417/2019 issued by the Secretariat of Energy.
