On 29 October 2019 Provision No. 284/2019 of the Sub-secretariat of Hydrocarbons and Fuels was published, regulating the new operational procedure for exports of natural gas (Export Procedure), which will remain in force until 30 September 2021.

Below a summary of the most relevant aspects:

i. The Sub-secretariat, the Ente Nacional Regulador del Gas (ENARGAS), Transportadora de Gas del Sur S.A. (TGS), Transportadora de Gas del Norte S.A. (TGN) and natural gas exporters will meet periodically to determine restrictions to the natural gas exports (Export Restrictions) to guarantee domestic supply.

ii. Such meetings will be held fortnightly during the summer period (from 01 October to 30 April) and weekly during the winter period (from 01 May to 30 September).

iii. The agreed Export Restrictions must be notified to gas exporters. Failure to comply with such restrictions may imply the cancellation of the gas export authorization for those exporters in breach.

The aforementioned Export Procedure complements the special regime for 'firm' exports of natural gas established by Provision No. 168/19.
