We are pleased to share with you information received from the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) regarding their service days this January.

The DIP would like to help ease the burden on business operators who find it difficult to avail themselves of DIP services during weekday hours due to excessive workloads or tight schedules. In order to encourage people to register their IP rights and further promote the importance of IP protection in general, as a New Year’s gift, the DIP has announced that for the first time ever the office will be open for business on Saturdays throughout January. Those seeking to submit applications for patents, petty patents, PCT international patents, invention patents, and trademarks will be able to do so on 12, 19, and 26 January 2019 from 08.30–16.30. During this special period, DIP officers will also be available to provide advice on IP registration. If the DIP receives successful feedback, we are hopeful they may similarly extend their service days on a periodic basis in the future.
