Extraordinary Security Measures on Flights to the United States
Last Tuesday, July 18th, the Department of Homeland Security of the United States informed the General Civil Aeronautics Directorate of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation that, as of the next day, 19 July, airlines shall apply extraordinary security measures for direct flights to the United States. These measures are mainly related to the inspection of portable electronic devices larger than a cell phone (smartphone).
Consequently, it is recommended that passengers flying to the United States to arrive to the airport three hours prior to their flight, in order to comply with the measures. Likewise, they recommended to carry the least amount of devices in the carry-on, considering these devices will be subject to extraordinary safety measures.
