The Argentine Government has launched an ambitious plan to increase the electricity produced from renewable energy sources. Cammesa, the public company that administrates the Argentine electricity market, has started a process to call local and international companies to bid on contracts to produce 1,000 megawatts of power from solar, wind, biogas, biomass and small hydroelectric projects sources.

Cammesa is currently conducting a public consultation process for interested parties to provide comments on the proposed terms and conditions for the bid. On the original bid timeline, the consultation process was expected to expire on June 12, 2016, and final terms and conditions would have been available to be bought between August 2, 2016 and August 8, 2016. Finally, the date for the presentation of proposals was scheduled on August 22, 2016.

However, given the broad national and international interest generated by the bid, Cammesa extended the consultation process until July 1, 2016, a decision that will probably require a re-schedule of the original bid timeline. Contracts awarded will be guaranteed by the World Bank.
