This role is a fantastic opportunity to join our forward-thinking and highly regarded Graduate Recruitment & Development team (GR&D). Our GR&D team are responsible for recruiting high calibre-candidates for vacation placements and training contracts. The team also manage trainee rotations and support their development while they work towards becoming newly qualified solicitors. The GR&D Officer will support the trainee solicitor development and seat moves.
This role requires someone who has worked in the legal sector or has a background within professional services, and who has had significant experience of both the processes involved in both Graduate Recruitment and Development. Ideally, you will have previously worked at Officer level in a comparable role.
- With support and guidance from the GRDM, organise the seat move process for trainee solicitors to ensure that trainees receive the necessary experience, and departments receive the appropriate level of support.
- Meet with trainees to obtain seat preference information.
- Liaise with trainee Partners in each department to confirm capacity for trainees.
- Negotiate any necessary changes to the ideal seating arrangements, with both departments and trainees.
- Finalise the seating plan for review by GRDM and Training Principal before circulating to departments for review.
- Oversee liaison with facilities (conducted GRDC) to ensure seat move takes place efficiently.
- With the support of the GRDC inform all of those affected of the changes, including HR, Accounts, Co-ordinating secretaries etc.
- Liaise with departments to allocate supervisors for each trainee.
- Manage the secondment process for trainees overseas and for client secondments.
- Responsible for the internal promotion of the trainee secondment programme.
- First point of contact for trainees applying for/on secondment.
- Co-ordinate the secondment selection process.
- Liaise with overseas offices and clients to organise placements including obtaining visas, accommodation, etc.
- Budget tracking.
- Liaise with relevant departments across the London office, e.g. payroll and IT.
- Responsible for the relationship with our future trainee population with support from the GRDC including Training Contract offer process, grants and fee payment and pastoral issues (supported by the GRDM).
- Support the Learning & Development officer with LPC events, Future Trainees social events, Induction programme and the Firm's relationship with BPP.
- Attendance at relevant marketing events, including law fairs and autumn presentations and vacation scheme socials.
- Support the GRO with marketing of events, including social media.
- Working closely with the Head of Recruitment, GRDM and the Inclusion and Diversity manager ensuring best practice methods which align to our inclusion and diversity strategy.
- Acting as the key person in the team for diversity related initiatives with our partner organisations including Aspiring Solicitors, Diverscity and City Law for Ethnic Minorities.
- Managing diversity events with support from the GRDC.
- Taking an active interest in diversity & inclusion and competition analysis so that we remain competitive.
- Work with our immigration team to support the visa process for future trainees and current trainees.
- Ensure that the team are compliant with all visa regulations.
- Monitoring of all offers made to ensure the GRDC has all the relevant paperwork.
- Sharing knowledge of the visa process with the GR&D team.
- Responsible for screening applications, reviewing video interviews and acting as a Group Assessor.
- Tracking sickness of trainees and managing absence.
- Supporting trainee occupational health referrals.
- Supporting trainees and liaising with supervisors regarding any adjustments.
- Assisting the GRDM in ad-hoc matters relating to trainee development.
- Ad-hoc project work, as required.
- Oversee responses to generic Graduate Recruitment inbox (administered by GRD Coordinator and GR Intern).

- Experience of a similar role - including both Graduate Recruitment and Trainee Development - ideally within a professional services organization at Officer/Advisor level
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- A flexible approach to meet current and future business needs
