To work as part of the London BDMC team and be responsible for raising the Firm’s profile externally and leading the Firm’s internal communications activities.
This position will drive diverse projects and initiatives to strengthen the brand of the Firm within the London market and to improve engagement across practices and offices.
This role works directly with senior management in London (ManCom, Heads of Functions, Department Managers, Practice/Industry Group leaders and leaders of various functions.
- Together with the senior manager, the role-holder will be responsible for running the day-to-day activities of the London press office, managing UK media relations, including with the legal, trade and business press, and proactively raising the profile of the Firm, its partners and a broad range of practice / industry groups. This includes: drafting and issuing press releases and organising media briefings
- Supporting the activation of local and global marketing campaigns internally and externally.
- Co-ordinating legal and national award submissions and surveys in conjunction with the Firm’s dedicated Award and Survey teams
- Supporting the senior manager and global communications team with handling sensitive issues and crisis communications.
- Together with the Senior Manager develop and implement a comprehensive plan to monitor and manage media relations with the key business/financial and legal press in London; develop key messages and assist in training designated spokespeople in delivering these messages
- Stay up-to-date with trends and activities within the legal landscape in London, for both clients and competitors; understand the industry landscape, political and economic environment so as to be an effective advisor to leadership
- Write speeches/talking points and develop presentation materials for key members of ManCom as they communicate internally and externally via Town Halls and other meetings
- Work with communications services teams based in the four Service Centers to reinforce existing collateral and capabilities
- Partner with relevant committees and groups to explore ways to create greater focus on current and planned activities
- Where appropriate, provide leadership and/or support on certain global communications initiatives

This role will be reporting to the Head of BDMC, London.

About The Candidate
Technical skills, qualifications and experience
- Strong PR, media or communications experience in large and dynamic organizations, preferably in a financial services or professional services environment and with partners/senior executives
- Strong contacts with media, especially at top-tier business publications. High level of experience working with business reporters in a sustained, positive and proactive manner
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Native level English communication skills
- Experience with integrated communications and knowledge of the marketing mix, including use of digital and social media
- Strong judgment and ability to make well-reasoned independent decisions
- Self-motivated, proactive and independent, able to work with a minimum of supervision but also a strong team player
- Comfortable working across multiple cultures and time zones in a matrix organization
- Strong interpersonal skills, including pleasant nature and ability to influence others
