Baker & McKenzie is currently looking for an an Assistant Manager, Global Pricing Programmes ('AM GPP') to provide support to stakeholders across the firm to improve our institutional ability to price our services sustainably, both for our clients and for the firm. This includes management of our commercial terms with key clients, advising on pricing issues on major matters, and support to distributed leadership in setting, communicating, and implementing commercial strategy.

The PS Team is a lean, geographically dispersed team of 8-10 professionals spread across Baker McKenzie offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

The responsibilities of this role will be to develop and maintain infrastructure, resources, policies, and processes to ensure the effective working of the broader PS team, as well as our broader stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

This role is anticipated to include, but not be limited to: 

  • Develop and administer the system for Pricing Consult Storage & Retrieval. The PS Team provides direct proactive support in the negotiation of commercial terms with firm prioritised Clients, along with ad-hoc, reactive support on non-prioritised Clients based on capacity. The AM GPP will be responsible for redesigning a system for the extraction and recording of pricing consults, including review, advice given, and results achieved, as well as the ongoing maintenance of the system
  • Development of Pricing Tools - Style & Functionality. The PS Team develops several Pricing Tools, mostly in Excel but increasingly using BI tools (Tableau, Power BI), workflow automation tools, or other custom spot solutions. The AM GPP will work with teams developing and maintaining these tools to ensure a consistent 'look and feel' across the solutions, whilst also ensuring supporting training resources and reference materials are kept relevant and up to date
  • Drafting and maintenance of Best Practice materials. To support broader enablement, the PS Team produces a range of practice notes, checklists, and other reference materials to build awareness of best practices and deliver pricing guidance at scale. The AM GPP will be responsible for curating content alongside subject matter experts from both the broader PS team and other aligned professionals
  • Process Design and Deployment. The AM GPP will take the lead in the development and implementation of workflow solutions to enable greater efficiency in pricing consults, including routing, capture, and distribution of information and feedback controls
  • Other Projects, such as: (i) Policy Drafting (relating to Pricing Governance); (ii) Development and Maintenance of Training Materials / Slides, including Case Summaries; and (iii) Periodic Industry Updates / Thought Leadership synopsis

Skills and Experience:

Practical Skills

  • Excellent organisational skills, specifically in support of a high performing team
  • Strong copy-writing skills, including drafting and review of written materials
  • Organisation, project management, and ability to handle multiple projects on tight deadlines simultaneously
  • Presentation skills, including PowerPoint materials and scripting
  • High level of proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. SAP and Tableau experience is a plus
  • Some financial analysis experience/business development experience is plus but not required
  • Experience working in a large organization
  • Interpersonal skills to work/lead in remote teams of PS, BD/marketing professionals, and other Firm PBS functions
  • Client service focus, flexibility, can-do attitude; motivated and enthusiastic; personal drive and energy
  • Fluent written and spoken English; additional language skills are a bonus
