J. Ross Macdonald is a member of the Regional Tax Practice Group in the New York office. A member of Baker & McKenzie's Tax Management Foreign Income and Transfer Pricing Advisory Boards, Mr. Macdonald has been recognized as a leading practitioner by Euromoney Guide to Leading US Tax Lawyers and Euromoney Guide to the World's Leading Transfer Pricing Advisers. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Section of Taxation of the New York State Bar Association, and has co-chaired the NYSBA Committee on US Activities of Foreign Taxpayers and the Committee on Foreign Activities of US Taxpayers.
Practice Focus
Mr. Macdonald focuses on corporate and international tax matters, including transfer pricing issues, inbound and outbound acquisitions, as well as cross-border financing structures. He also advises on offshore investment funds, cross-border joint venture arrangements and tax-advantaged treaty-based structures. He regularly provides tax advice to high net-worth foreign families and individuals.
Representative Legal Matters
- Served as principal outside adviser to the Government of Venezuela during its successful negotiation of an income tax treaty with the United States.
