American Lawyer Recognizes Baker & McKenzie in its "Litigation Department of the Year" Awards

Chicago, USA, 3 January 2012 - Baker & McKenzie's Global Dispute Resolution practice has been recognized by The American Lawyer in the publication's sixth biennial Litigation Department of the Year award series, earning a spot in AmLaw’s Honorable Mention category. The Firm was cited as "the ultimate global law firm" with the "ultimate mix of global dispute success."

Published in the magazine’s January 2012 issue, this prestigious litigation award honors Baker & McKenzie as one of 14 firms that “showed an impressive array of accomplishments” and “proved their mettle on the big stage” to earn AmLaw’s Honorable Mention designation.

Victories mentioned included a €118 million price-fixing win for Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, establishing that trademark laws protect L'Oreal SA from comparative advertising, a $200 million win for Petrobras AG against Kellogg Brown & Root LLC, $85 million for a Czech bank against the Czech Republic, a $237 million corruption settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice for the Panalpina Group, and beating a $1.5 billion transfer pricing claim by the Internal Revenue Service against Symantec Corporation.
