We combine international labor knowledge and local labor execution to help organizations deal with labor and employee relations matters. Labor markets reflect industry-specific developments and regional concentrations, education and skill sets, labor mobility, the impact of corporate restructuring and globalization, and the systemic overlay of socio-economic history, culture, politics, and law.

We bring in-depth sector specific knowledge and experience to help employers manage their relationships with works’ councils, trade unions, employee collective representatives, and the labor regulatory regime. We help employers design and implement programs and policies to maintain positive employee relations in a non-union workplace. Where a corporate union campaign is directed at employers, we direct appropriate responses and actions in compliance with local law and custom.

The globalization and international mergers of trade unions, the incorporation of international labor standards and human rights into employer codes of conduct, linkages between trade agreements and labor, well financed and sophisticated electronic corporate campaigns, legislated corporate responsibility and compliance means that employers face a more modern array of labor and employee challenges both domestically and internationally. The present environment is one where failure to manage a labor issue in one part of an organization can have a dramatic impact in its operation in subsidiary, parent, supply chain or related enterprises even in other parts of the world.

The circumstances employers face today call for unique solutions that bring an international outlook to local management of labor issues. Our practice draws from actual past experience in a wide array of roles, including National Labor Relations Board appointees, Ministry of Labor inspectors and officials, Labor law professors and academics, union organizers, Labor policy advisors, government ministers, political assistants, law enforcement, regulatory officials, negotiators and arbitrators.

Companies with employees who regularly work outside employers’ premises must comply with new requirements covering employment agreements, the performance of job functions, and the provision of technical equipment, among others. The new rules take effect on 19 April 2013.
