Brendan Kelly is a partner in the Tax group, and based in the Firm’s Shanghai office. He has over 15 years of tax advisory experience. He is ranked as a leading tax lawyer by top legal directories, including Chambers Asia Pacific, PLC Which lawyer? and Legal 500 Asia Pacific. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Kelly worked as a partner in the Tax and Business Advisory Services Group at the Beijing office of one of China’s biggest accounting firms. His professional affiliations include serving on the editorial board of China Tax Intelligence—one of the premier China tax publications—and on the board of governors for the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing.

Mr. Kelly has performed a wide range of analysis of various industries—especially with regard to China tax implications—and has extensive experience advising cross-border clients on the tax and legal implications of investing and doing deals in China. He has worked on many large M&A transactions advising both on key tax issues associated with deal structuring, as well as on-going considerations for post-acquisition integration of potential deals into the existing legal and business structure of MNC buyers. He is also highly experienced in working with multinationals to establish contract manufacturing operations in China, developing integrated supply chain structures and assessing opportunities for tax restructuring in a post tax-unification environment.
