Changes in Office Location and Firm Name for Baker & McKenzie, Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan, August 13, 2012 – Effective September 18, 2012, Baker & McKenzie GJBJ Tokyo Aoyama Aoki Koma Law Office (Gaikokuho Joint Enterprise) will officially change its registered firm name to be “Baker & McKenzie (Gaikokuho Joint Enterprise).” On the same date, the Tokyo office of Baker & McKenzie (currently operating at Chiyoda-ku) will relocate to the recently developed Ark Hills Sengokuyama Mori Tower, located in Roppongi 1-chome.
Celebrating its 40th year as a legal entity in the Japanese corporate environment, the Tokyo office takes this opportunity to clarify its position as a truly international law firm with strong local roots, upheld by the talents of both Japanese bengoshi and foreign attorneys alike. Baker & McKenzie continues to be one of the largest international law firms in the world, and our office thrives on the advantage of being able to call upon a global network of offices operating in 71 cities and 44 countries around the world. By unifying the firm name with our global offices, the Tokyo office will not only continue to respond to our global and domestic clients’ inbound and domestic needs, but will also respond more efficiently and rapidly to the cross-border legal needs and expansion schemes of Japanese conglomerates and operating entities alike. With Japan still being one of the major money centers and economies in the world, the Tokyo office will continue to expand and become an integral legal provider within the multinational structure of Baker & McKenzie.
