As part of the planning process for their upcoming annual equity compensation grants, US multinational companies currently are reviewing the latest trends and practices in granting stock options, restricted stock units and other forms of equity compensation globally while assessing the requirements and procedures that impact the grant of awards to employees in other countries.
From this perspective, the Global Equity Services practice group from Baker & McKenzie LLP will (1) review different approaches to granting equity awards internationally that
companies are considering, (2) address the key legal, regulatory and tax issues in various countries that companies will need to consider in planning for their upcoming global equity grants, and (3) recommend a number of best practices when granting awards to employees outside of the United States with a view towards easing administrative burdens, reducing company risks and promoting flexibility for dealing with quickly changing requirements and an increasingly mobile work force.
