The Philippine government’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for the School Infrastructure project worth USD244.3 million (Php10.5 billion) is now ready for bidding. The project, which will be implemented by the Department of Education, involves the design, financing, construction, and maintenance of one-storey and two-storey school buildings and 9,332 classrooms in Luzon. The project components consist of classroom buildings, toilets, and classroom furniture.

On 28 June 2011, the Philippine Supreme Court (Supreme Court) en banc promulgated its decision in the case of Wilson P. Gamboa v. FinaUUnce Secretary Margarito Teves, et. al., which discussed the proper computation of the Filipino ownership of the capital of Philippine Long Distance Company (PLDT), a public utility. The Philippine Constitution requires that at least sixty percent of the capital of public utilities be owned by Filipino citizens, and that foreigners can own only up to forty percent.
