Practice Focus

Mr. Scheer focuses on advising multinational and Dutch clients, particularly the European and Dutch VAT aspects of cross-border transactions and electronic commerce, customs valuation and customs classification matters.

Representative Legal Matters

• Rendering advice to clients regarding the VAT and customs aspects of new EMEA wide sales structures (tax planning)
• Advising clients with respect to voluntary disclosure of certain incorrect VAT filings
• Performing several multi-country surveys into the local VAT and sales tax aspects of certain proposed transactions
• Negotiating customs valuation rulings with the Dutch customs authorities
• Representing clients before the VAT and customs authorities in the event of VAT and/or customs audits
• Representing clients in the Tax Court, Dutch Supreme Court and European Court of Justice in Luxembourg
