Ricardo Metke has more than 30 years of experience practicing in the areas of intellectual property and unfair competition. He has served as a consultant on IP and unfair competition for leading local and international companies, and has intervened in litigations of considerable importance. Mr. Metke serves as an arbitrator of the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, where he handles IP-related matters. He is a member of the Colombian Association of Industrial Property, of the Inter-American Association for the Industrial Property (ASIPI) and of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). Also he has been a consultant for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Practice Focus
Mr. Metke focuses his practice on industrial property, copyrights and unfair competition matters. He advises local and foreign companies on myriad IP matters and assists in the design and implementation of clients’ IP portfolio management. These include handling IP administrative proceedings before competent authorities and representing clients before IP administrative, civil and criminal courts.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised pharmaceutical, apparel, foodstuff and lubricants companies on trademark, copyrights and unfair competition matters, as well as IP enforcement and anti-piracy programs.
- Led team in various cases aimed at protecting clients’ rights over pharmaceutical trademarks via infringement actions against third parties.
