Shannon Donnelly Joins Baker & McKenzie’s Global Immigration Practice in Washington, DC

Washington, DC, USA, November 8, 2011 – Shannon Donnelly has joined Baker & McKenzie as an Of Counsel, bolstering the Firm’s global immigration and mobility practice in Washington,DC with more than 12 years of experience handling employment-related immigration issues.
Ms. Donnelly advises a variety of US employers, including investment banking firms, manufacturers, IT product and service providers, and healthcare providers on a broad range of immigration issues, including employment-related immigration. She regularly counsels US employers concerning retention of permanent resident status for their foreign national employees, derivative citizenship, family immigration for dependents and relatives of employees, as well as naturalization issues. She also advises on worksite compliance, including assisting clients in developing I-9 compliance programs and best practices, and often works with the HR and legal departments of corporate clients to provide counseling, training, and management services.

Ms. Donnelly joins a growing Global Immigration & Mobility team in the Washington, DC office, with a corps of 20, including 9 attorneys. She follows the additions of Becki Young, Of Counsel, who joined in early 2011, and Paul Virtue, the former Executive Associate Commissioner and General Counsel of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), who joined as a Partner in late 2009.
About Shannon Donnelly
Ms. Donnelly is a 1999 graduate of American University Washington College of Law. While pursuing her law degree, she also received a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the American University School of International Service. She is also a 1996 graduate of Middlebury College.
Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie’s Washington, DC office, Ms. Donnelly spent ten years at Dickstein Shapiro LLP, where she focused on employment related immigration issues. Earlier in her career, she was an Associate at the International Law Group. Ms. Donnelly is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is admitted to practice in New York and Washington, DC.
