The Netherlands offers a case study of how member states are transposing AIFM into national law.

The Dutch regulatory framework for investment funds has undergone substantial changes as a result of the implementation of the EU Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD or Directive) on 22 July 2013. A large majority of investment funds active in the Netherlands fall within the scope of the AIFMD. Many that were previously unregulated such as hedge funds and private equity funds - and their managers - will be affected.

On April 8, 2014, the German Federal government approved a legislative bill for a sweeping reform of the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (“EEG”). These FIREE recordals provide a useful perspective on the trend and pace of new foreign capital inflow into the China real estate sector. However, the FIREE recordal statistics do not disclose the actual amount of foreign capital involved in each transaction.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill 2014 was tabled for its first reading in the Malaysian Parliament on 31 March 2014 and was passed by the Dewan Rakyat (lower house of the Malaysian Parliament) on 7 April 2014. The GST Bill 2014 will now proceed through the Dewan Negara (upper house of the Malaysian Parliament) before it can be gazetted into law.

The Russian Government has for some time been developing draft regulations limiting participation of medical devices that originate from abroad in Russian state/municipal procurement. Prior drafts of such regulations were rather complex and had mechanisms build into them aimed at ensuring that the prohibition is only applicable when Russian analogues of the relevant medical devices exist. Recently a new draft of the regulations has been published. This new draft establishes that certain medical devices may not be purchased within state/municipal procurement.
