On 9 December 2014, the Government of Singapore and the Government of the United States signed an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) to facilitate the implementation of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) in Singapore. The IGA is based on the United States Department of the Treasury's Model 1 IGA and was signed following the announcement in May 2014 that Singapore and the US have reached an agreement in substance regarding a Model 1 IGA. A copy of the IGA can be found on the website of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).

In January 2014 new rules on the protection and processing of personal data became effective. Personal data holders are now required to notify the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) only about the processing of any personal data that is particularly sensitive within 30 days of commencing the processing.

On 1 December 2014, the National Bank of Ukraine (the NBU) adopted a new regulation (Resolution No. 758) with effect from 3 December 2014 which extended the application of certain currency control restrictions to 3 March 2015 that were set forth by NBU Resolution No. 540 dated 29 August 2014 and Resolution No. 734 dated 20 November 2014.

The procedure of state registration of franchising agreements (as commercial concession agreements) will come into effect in Ukraine from 21 April 2015.

Franchising arrangements fall under the definition of commercial concession agreements for the purposes of Ukrainian law and such agreements are subject to state registration. If a commercial concession agreement is not registered then its parties cannot refer to such agreement vis-a-vis third parties in Ukraine.
