The Consolidated Guide to the REDD+ Rules under the UNFCCC, written by the Baker & McKenzie Law for Development Initiative and opened by a Foreword from the Minister of State for Environment in Peru Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, simplifies and brings together international law on REDD+. REDD+ is a mechanism developed under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), through which developing countries could receive financial benefits by introducing policies and taking steps to reduce carbon emissions from the use of forests.

On 31 October 2014, the Australian Securities and Investment Commission issued two new Class Order exemptions as well as an updated regulatory guide on employee incentive plans. One of the Class Order exemptions relates to listed companies and the other to unlisted companies. They replace the current Class Order exemption (CO 03/184) for employee share plans, although companies that have previously relied on Class Order exemption 03/184 for their share plan may continue to do so for the duration of the plan.

In September 2014, the Conseil d’Etat released its annual report on “Digital Technology and Fundamental Rights” which (i) examines how the rise of digital technology has already prompted the recognition of new fundamental rights and freedoms and changed the conditions under which they are exercised, (ii) seeks to explain how the ambivalence of digital technology is now forcing to rethink how such rights should be protected, and, finally (iii) sets 50 proposals to ensure that digital technology supports both individual rights and collective interests.

On 20 October 2014, the Parliament of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine "On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Medicines" related to dealing in products, and state control over quality of products imported into Ukraine” (the Amendment). This Amendment improves the medicine registration rules, and streamlines state control over the quality of products imported into Ukraine.

On 5 November 2014, the High Court of Australia handed down judgment in the case Wellington Capital Limited v Australian Securities & Investments Commission [2014] HCA 43 finding that the responsible entity of a managed investment scheme did not have the power under its constitution or under the Corporations Act to distribute scheme property by way of a transfer of shares in specie to unit holders.
