Real Estate Lawyer Alexander Jampel Joins Baker & McKenzie in Tokyo

Tokyo, June 8, 2009 – Baker & McKenzie GJBJ Tokyo Aoyama Aoki Koma Law Office (Gaikokuho Joint Enterprise) is delighted to announce that Alexander Jampel has joined the Firm as a new partner in its Banking & Finance practice in Tokyo.
Alexander Jampel, a prominent real estate lawyer in Tokyo, has extensive experience in the areas of real estate acquisitions, dispositions, finance, development and joint ventures. His practice includes the representation of investors in the acquisition of commercial real estate portfolios, representation of developers in commercial real estate projects, and the representation of lenders providing non-recourse financing for the commercial real estate and real estate secured loan portfolios.
Mr. Jampel is a membership vice chair of the ULI Japan. He received the NAIOP Hawaii Kukulu Hale Award in 2002 for the Sale Transaction of the Year in Hawaii.
Mr. Jampel joined Paul Hastings in Los Angeles in 1989, and moved to a law office in Hawaii in 1993. He became a partner after he rejoined Paul Hastings in Tokyo in 2002. Mr. Jampel received his B.A. in economics from University of California at Los Angeles in 1984 and his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1989. He was elected to the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society while he was at Loyola. He is admitted to practice in California and Hawaii and is a member of the California and Hawaii State Bar. He is also registered as a foreign lawyer in Japan (gaikokuho jimu bengoshi) and is a member of the Daiichi Tokyo Bar Association. Mr. Jampel was born and raised in Tokyo and is a native Japanese speaker.
