Washington, DC, USA, July 2, 2012 – Highly regarded IP litigator Julie A. Petruzzelli has joined Baker & McKenzie as a partner in Washington, DC, adding more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of intellectual property litigation, counseling, and licensing.

Best Lawyers as the "2012 Washington DC Technology Law Lawyer of the Year," Ms. Petruzzelli has handled a wide variety of complex litigations, including patent, trade secret, trademark, and copyright litigations. She has developed and implemented IP strategies for large and small domestic and international corporations, including analyzing and monitoring competitive IP. In recent years, Ms. Petruzzelli's practice has increasingly focused on representing companies in Asia, especially in Japan.

Ms. Petruzzelli has served as lead counsel in intellectual property matters covering a broad range of technologies and industries, including chemical, biochemical, pharmaceutical, ANDA, electrical, mechanical, medical device, and computer-related matters. She has represented US and international companies before federal courts throughout the US and the International Trade Commission.

Ms. Petruzzelli's recent matters include:
- Representation of a Fortune Global 100 Japanese corporation in an Eastern District of Texas patent litigation involving visual voicemail
- Representation of a worldwide pharmaceutical corporation in an ANDA litigation
- Representation of a travel services company in a trademark and unfair competition case in the District of Delaware

Ms. Petruzzelli is the latest in a series of prominent lateral hires to join the Firm's Washington, DC office. In recent months, IP lawyers Robert Parker and Richard Wells have joined the office. In addition, compensation and benefits tax attorney Anne Batter; Partner Josh Odintz, a former Senior Advisor for Tax Reform to the Assistant Secretary at the US Department of the Treasury; and Mary Bennett, the former head of the Tax Treaty, Transfer Pricing & Financial Transactions Division of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Centre for Tax Policy & Administration, joined the Washington, DC office during the last year.
Ms. Petruzzelli received her JD from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1982 and a BS from Brown University in 1979. She most recently was a partner at Venable LLP, where she had been the head of that firm's Technology Division and its IP Litigation Practice Group. She is admitted to practice in New York and Washington, DC, and before the USPTO.
